    • Founded as a locally grown enterprise, Yankee Hay Company specializes in growing, alfalfa, straw, and mixed grass hay, and then selling it,on both a local and national level.

    Our products are naturally grown in northern Michigan, near the shores of Lake Huron. Our gentle summer weather produces tender high quality hay that is perfect for feeding livestock.

    We got our company name from our friendly customers in the southern areas of the United States who were so impressed by the remarkable tenderness of our northern hay that they nick-named our product "Yankee-Hay". Needless to say, the name stuck, and we consider the rave reviews of our clients in the south to be a high complement, and an excellent example of organic customer "branding"!

    We ship our hay throughout the United States year round. Our clients include horse farms, feed stores, agricultural schools and colleges, veterinarian clinics, livestock farmers, animal rescue agencies, and more.

    We make hay while the sun shines! Click the image to watch a windrow of hay being fed into a hay baler which makes square bales of hay. The cord that you see is attached to a moisture meter located inside the tractor. The moisture meter constantly monitors the moisture content of the hay being baled and this helps us to produce top quality hay!
